Brother and Ladies

Please be aware that if you bring a guest into this Lodge, you must sign them into the guest book and you must also make all of the purchases for them.  Also, make sure they have proper identification, should there be any question of age.  Our Stewards are merely doing their jobs when they have to ask for ID, and they do their jobs well.

Also, parents, please note that if you are not present in the Lodge, then your children cannot be in the Lodge.  This is getting to be a problem and we would appreciate it if you will help us remedy it.

What is a "Lodge Volunteer"
The "Lodge Volunteer" is one who without compensation works tirelessly to insure the success of his/her lodge. When a Moose Lodge is successful everyone benefits, it's members, the community, Mooseheart,

Moosehaven, and Moose Charities. Remember, without "Lodge Volunteers" our lodge could not survive.

So, if you have some spare time please volunteer.

"Because Moose members give themselves in service,

we help brighten the horizons for communities throughout the Moose domain."

Musings From a Volunteer

the following is re-printed from an Indianapolis, Indiana Moose Family Center #17 newsletter

The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word Volunteer as .....

1. A person who performs or gives his services of his own free will.

For well over 100 years the solid foundation that this Lodge and this Fraternity has been built on is a Volunteer.  Men and women have devoted their time and efforts to make this Lodge and Fraternity the great organization it is today.  Being human beings, none of us are perfect.  In fact, the last perfect human being, the Romans nailed to a cross.  The men and women who always manage to find time to volunteer their services and work the Lodge's two breakfasts are a special group. The one common thread they all share is lack of Commercial Food Service Kitchen experience.  Why?  Because they all come from different occupations and various life's experiences.  Still they volunteer!

That lack of experience was pointed out at the 4/19/08 Legion breakfast, by an Anonymous note left on a placemat.  Now mind you - that breakfast was the second busiest one behind the Dec. '06, 'Breakfast w/Santa'.  Due to the restrictions of space in this editorial I won't repeat the note; however I take the author and note to task.

Yes, we can use some training in cooking for a group - will you volunteer and teach us?

Or better yet, we would love to have you on the Breakfast Crew!

Yes, we can use more help so your wait won't be so long - will you join us in improving the service aspect of the breakfasts?

Or better yet, we would love to have you on the Breakfast Crew!!

Yes, we might have run out of an item or two on the buffet and you had to wait a little - will you volunteer and keep this from happening again?

Or better yet, we need you on the Breakfast Crew!!!

However, I will sign my name.

Frank Farkas

Breakfast Crew Volunteer
